Standard iron-based gears:

Salt spray time: 48–240 hours (treated with Dacromet or rust-preventive oil)

Suitable for most non-core automotive components.

17-4PH gears:

  • Salt spray time in base condition: 24 hours

  • After passivation and sealing: 100–120 hours

  • After electrolytic polishing and oxidation: >1000 hours (recommended for high-corrosion environments).

Actual applications:

Core components of new energy vehicles (e.g., ABS gear rings).
